What is Prosthodontics?
Prosthodontics is a dental specialty that is recognized by the ADA (American Dental Association). It refers to the diagnosis, treatment planning, reconstruction, and maintenance of the oral dentition, function, comfort, appearance, and health of patients with conditions associated with missing teeth, breakdown of teeth and or the oral and maxillofacial tissues.
What makes Dr. Uchil and Dr. Girskis a Prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed dental school plus three additional years of advanced training and education in an ADA-accredited prosthodontic graduate program. They specialize in treating and handling dental and facial problems that involve restoring missing tooth and jaw structures. Dr. Uchil completed her post-graduation with a Master of Science in Dentistry and a certificate in Prosthodontics from University of Texas School of Dentistry, Houston. She completed her Preceptorship in Oral Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Uchil worked with Maxillofacial Oncology patients during rotation at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston to provide restorative dental care to oral cancer patients. Dr. Uchil has a specialty license to practice Prosthodontics in the State of Michigan. Dr. Uchil specializes in senior citizen dental care and has expertise in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders, invisalign and more. Dr. Girskis received his undergraduate dental education at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1983 and completed his residency in Prosthodontics at The University of Michigan in 1986. Dr. Girskis is highly trained in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and more.
