Composite Restoration (tooth colored filling)

Dental fillings are used to prevent the spread of tooth decay or correct any cosmetic damage . A filling is just one of the ways Dr. Uchil and Dr. Michael P. Girskis can preserve your dental health and maintain your best smile.  Before placement of a dental filling we will administer local anesthesia to ensure maximum comfort for our patients. We will remove any decay present from the tooth and achieve a clean and dry work area.

We are a mercury-free practice.  However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye, and we know that by unavoidable design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. Our practice offers a more esthetically pleasing and very strong composite resin filling. Composite resin fillings are tooth-colored fillings that provide good durability and resistance to fractures and are able to withstand the pressures of consistent chewing. They can be placed in either the front or back teeth. We offer the composite resin fillings in a variety of shades (colors) to assist in matching each patient’s individual tooth.

Since the color of a composite resin filling can be customized, it is the most aesthetically pleasing option. Composite resin is ideal for repairing chipped or cracked teeth, filling in a tooth gap, correcting dental discoloration, protecting any exposed tooth root from gum recession, or changing the shape of teeth. Patients may also choose composite resin for cavity fillings as they are bonded to the teeth in layers and therefore require less drilling away of the natural tooth.
